Wenberg County Park
Wenberg County Park
Wenberg County Park is a 45-acre site located on the eastern shore of Lake Goodwin. Bruce Dees & Associates was hired by Snohomish County to assist with developing and designing a concept plan and construction drawings for the redevelopment of an existing boat launch and beach access area. BDA facilitated topographic and aquatic surveys, a cultural resource study, and the permit application process.
Accessibility on site
The design for this site focuses on meeting ADA accessibility standards across the waterfront. This included creating an accessible path into the swimming area that is encased by a looped dock. The looped dock is a minimum 8’ width that allows users with any mobility restrictions access to the waterfront for fishing and viewing opportunities. This site was developed with users of all capabilities and lifestyles in mind, creating safe and healthy opportunities for campers, fishermen, swimmers, and boaters to interact with the environment.
Stormwater Runoff
Prior to the new improvements, all surface runoff from the site’s features would directly flow into the lake untreated, therefore contaminating the natural ecosystem with pollutants. BDA worked on implementing catch basins to capture runoff from the parking lot and road, and a trench drain across the top of the boat launch. This contaminated water is then treated via a mechanical treatment facility and then released into the lake to preserve the health and safety of the site.
