Town of Steilacoom Parks and Recreation
Sunnyside Beach is the largest shoreline park in the historic town of Steilacoom. Its 1,500 lineal feet of shoreline offer spectacular views of Puget Sound, the South Sound Islands, and the Olympic Mountains.
We developed a master plan to guide long-term development of the park, and then developed the construction documents for the project. Our plan addressed several important issues, including: stabilizing and enhancing the shoreline and access to the beach; improving access to the park; and organizing, improving, and replacing the circulation and recreation facilities. An interdisciplinary team – led by our firm and included fisheries biologists, shoreline experts, architects, and engineers – was formed to help deal with these issues and other technical and permitting aspects of the project.
