Summer is in full swing at Upper Clear Creek, drawings visitors of all (animal) kinds to see how the Port of Tacoma, Bruce Dees & Associates, Herrera Environmental Consultants, and ACI Construction are working to restore an important salmon habitat in southeast Tacoma. Over the past two weeks, a gaggle of geese, a garter snake, and even a coyote have entertained crews busy at work ensuring that the site restores the function of the original stream channel by providing diverse plant and wildlife habitat and optimizing the flow of Upper Clear Creek. In addition to excavation and grading activities, the crew has also been busy re-introducing native plants to the site. Thankfully, the weather has shone on Washington and work is progressing steadily.
